Lexus RX 7 seater launches in SA

Lexus has introduced a brand-new variant to its RX SUV-line called the RX 350L. The model is based on a normal Lexus RX, except the 350L comes with a third-row of seats, creating room for 7 occupants.

According to Lexus: “The option of a third row of seats offers Lexus drivers even greater practicality, convenience and roominess while maintaining the sleek styling and easy manoeuvrability customers always value.”

The 350L is 110mm longer and 10mm higher than a normal RX, creating additional leg and headroom for the extra passengers. The boot capacity also receives a bump up to 432 litres once the rear-seats are electronically lowered.

Access to the rear seats is made easier thanks to an electronic slide function on the centre-row. The centre-row is also positioned slightly higher to allow for more leg-room at the rear. Lastly, third-row passengers are treated to their own dedicated air-conditioning zone, complete with vents and controls.

Powering the 7-seater SUV is a V6 engine that produces 216kW of power and 358Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Lexus RX 350L is equipped with LED headlamps, daytime running lights, front fog lamps as well as 12” infotainment screen, sat-nav, 12 speakers, 20-inch alloy wheels with black centre caps, smart entry and start, roof rails and rear privacy glass. Other standard kit on the RX 350L include a reverse camera, alarm, immobiliser and intrusion sensors.

The interior receives a new ‘moon roof’ which replaces the normal panoramic roof. Although the front two rows of seats are finished in leather, the third-row is finished in synthetic material. Front seats are heated and ventilated with 10-way power adjustment and driver’s seat memory.
