Aston plans this and more models before 2023
The latest chapter of Aston Martin’s new line-up has been revealed. The new Aston Martin Vantage made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week and is faster, lighter and more powerful than its predecessor.
The Vantage is the second of 7 new models that will be launched by the British manufacturer by 2023, with the first being the DB11. The new model weighs in at 1530kg and is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 375kW of power and 685Nm of torque.
Power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.6-seconds. The new Vantage will probably be a track-destroyer too, thanks to its perfect 50:50 weight distribution and its all-new aluminium architecture.
Downforce has also been drastically improved, with the front splitter working together with the rear diffuser and a boot lip to manage air-flow under the car while improving downforce. Pressure in the wheel arches is also decreased through the assistance of side gills behind the front wheels.
Other track-focused tech includes an electronic rear differential, which is a first for Aston Martin, a torque-vectoring system, sticky Pirelli P-Zero tyres and adaptive dampers.
The occupants get heated and ventilated leather seats in the cabin, alongside a premium sound system. The exterior has been heavily influenced by the Aston Martin DB10 and features 20-inch alloys, the signature clamshell bonnet, chiselled LED headlights and the intimidating grille. The Vantage also affirms the promise from boss Andy Palmer that all future models will have their own “identity” and won’t feature “Russian doll styling”.
We can expect to see a convertible Volante model and a more track-focused derivative of the Vantage being launched sometime after the coupe, with first deliveries anticipated to arrive by the middle of this year.
