Three Cars to Look Out for in Beijing Motor Show
The Beijing International Motor Show is one of the biggest automotive events in Asia and usually hosts some of the biggest reveals of the year. The event will be taking place later this month, and it seems that this year will be no different.
Expect to see cutting-edge technology and unconventional design stealing the spotlight. Here are three cars that you should look out for in Beijing.
#3 – The DS X E-Tense Concept
You may recall Citroen’s DS-phase, where they launched a few sporty models like the DS3 and the DS5. Well, the DS division is all independent now and is the quickest adopter of electric-power within the PSA Group.
DS recently previewed a new concept that will be revealed in Beijing called the X E-Tense. Not much is known about the concept aside from the fact that it is an electric two-door coupe and will introduce the brand’s vision for future models.
#2 – The Mercedes-Maybach GLS
Many people don’t know this, but Maybach is actually a division of Mercedes. The luxury arm sits across AMG at the other end of the spectrum and specialises in luxury vehicles to rival the likes of Bentley and Range Rover.
The latest vehicle to join the Mercedes-Maybach family, consisting of the S-Class based S600 and the S-Class coupe based S650, is the yet-to-be-named GLS-Class model that will rival the Bentley Bentayga and possibly the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The new model will also act as a preview for the next-generation regular GLS-Class SUV.
#1 – BMW M2 Competition
What could possibly be the most controversial BMW rumour was confirmed earlier this month when BMW Australia leaked pictures and technical information of the highly anticipated BMW M2 Competition.
The special edition compact sports car will be powered by a detuned version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine found in the BMW M3. The end result is a power output of 302kW, nearly 30kW more than the regular M2.
