The Pagani Huayra Roadster BC is a R62-million work of art

Gone are the days of the supercar being top dog. These days, the innovative technology that goes into producing fast cars has given rise to a new breed of the supercar that goes over and above anything we know about speed. They’re called hypercars, and some of the top contenders in this space include McLaren, Koenigsegg and Pagani, the latter being a small, Italian manufacturer that hand-crafts their cars. The owner, Horacio Pagani, often describes his cars as works of art, and his latest piece is no exception.

Meet the new Pagani Huayra Roadster BC, which was actually first revealed on a mobile racing game called CSR Racing 2. The BC takes everything we loved about the Huayra Roadster and turns it up to 1000. Its faster, more powerful and lighter. It’s also a limited edition, restricted to just 40 units commanding a price tag of around R62-million. If you’re interested, you should call Pagani up quickly because, like models of the past, they’re probably all sold by now. Buyers will see the car in the metal for the first time at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event at the 2019 Monterey Car Week.

Pagani Huayra BC Roadster specs

The Pagani Huayra Roadster BC is built around a new monocoque, crafted from a blend of carbon fibre and titanium. Weight reduction efforts can also be seen in the carbon fibre panels used around the car, which replace the aluminium panels used on the normal Pagani Huayra Roadster. Lightweight alloy wheels, carbon-ceramic brakes and reworked aerodynamics also work in unison to keep the weight as low as possible, while an all-new titanium exhaust system works with the rear diffusor to generate extra downforce. The result is a car that weighs just 1250-kilograms, promising some exciting handling and dynamics.

Strap a V12 engine to that lightweight body and you certainly enter hypercar territory. The specific unit powering the Pagani Huayra Roadster BC is a Mercedes-AMG developed petrol 6.0-litre V12, coupled to a pair of turbochargers. Total output is claimed at 590kW of power and 1050Nm of torque, all of which are sent exclusively to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
