Porsche 911 Carrera RSR By Champion Motorsports

Posted on 20 June 2012 by SACarFan

The new Porsche 911 (991) Carrera might be in the headlines at the moment, but Porsche tuner and parts manufacturer, Champion Motorsports, has done some work on the 997 Carrera Turbo S that may well warrant a little drooling.

Champion Motorsports wanted to create a road-going Porsche 911 RSR and with the 911 Turbo S as their base, have managed to unleash around 425 kW and 845 Nm of torque (on the wheels) from the turbocharged, 3.8-litre, flat-six.

The details of the entire project are far too intense to list here, but suffice to say the car has been completely stripped and rebuilt to create the most hardcore, road-legal, 911. To cut a long story short, Champion Motorsports have installed two VTG turbochargers, carbon fibre RSR bodywork, a factory RSR floor undertray, straight-through exhaust pipes, new suspension arms, an RSR sway bar and custom fabricated carbon fibre components such as wheel-well housing, brake cooling ducts, inner fender aprons and front floor panel.

In addition, chassis upgrades include four-way adjustable Ohlins coilover suspension (US$15 000) and a set of magnesium wheels (US$30 000). As a result, the new RSR can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds. If you’re wondering what the final price of the sports car is, take a seat before reading… US$399 900.

2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR

Posted on 14 December 2010 by Scott Hayes

Porsche has just released details and images of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RSR race car. It features new aerodynamics, some more power and even more on-track potential.

It looks simply awesome this new RSR. Every little detail amplifies the car’s presence. From the intricately-styled rear bumper vents to the fat-as-hell pumped guards front and rear, every aspect of the car is there as a high-priority. The key revisions to the new car include a reshaped front end for more downforce at high speed, incorporating a steeper front lip extension off the bumper bar. The car’s front wheels are also widened from 279 mm (11-inch) to 308 mm (12-inch) to provide even more face-distorting grip.

The rear end is given even more treatment in the aid of improving downforce. There’s now a huge deck wing with added vents to push the back of the car hard into the ground under high-speed braking and cornering. The rear bumper also includes more air-extracting vents to help suck the rear of the car down to the ground.

Pushing the new RSR along is a revised 4.0-litre flat-six engine which now outputs 335 kW of power and 450 Nm of torque thanks to ECU, air intake and exhaust enhancements.

It’s the perfect race car for any endurance race. If you’ve got a spare €410 000 lying around, you can order yours directly from the factory in Zuffenhausen, Germany. If you have just bought the 2010 model, don’t worry, Porsche also offers the entire package as an update, which you can bolt-on to your 2010 model.
