Just four months after the release of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato concept at the Villa d’Este 2011 Concours d’Elegance and race version of the V12 Zagato, Aston Martin will show both the street and race version of the Aston Martin V12 Zagato at the upcoming 2011 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show.
The V12 Zagato is based on the V12 Vantage. It features an aluminum and carbon fibre body, is hand-assembled at Aston Martin’s Gaydon factory and is powered by a version of the British company’s 6.0-litre V12 with an output of 380 kW and 570 Nm of torque.
Frankfurt won’t be the first public outing for the car, however, as Aston Martin entered two concepts, nicknamed “Zig” and “Zag”, at the 24-Hours of Nürburgring endurance race earlier this year. Both cars took the chequered flag after 230 laps and in the process, left Aston’s perfect finishing record in this grueling test untarnished. Since then the cars have returned to their original specifications although the “Zag”, unlike the “Zig”, features an interior very close to that of the production car.
Aston Martin said the V12 Zagato will be produced in limited numbers (no more than 150 units) from the summer of 2012 with a price tag of £330 000 excluding taxes.
