Novitec Rosso Ferrari 458 Italia

Posted on 23 February 2011 by Scott Hayes

Novitec Rosso has finally released their tuning program for the Ferrari 458 Italia, set for public debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The high-performance program includes engine tuning that increases power output to 454 kW at 9 100 r/min. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 540 Nm to 569 Nm at 5 400 r/min, propelling the two-seater car to a top speed in excess of 330 km/h. Modifications under the bonnet inclued a new carbon-fibre airbox, a new exhaust system that is 21 kgs lighter than the standard system and which is made from the same Inconel material as used in Formula 1 racing.

Aerodynamics have been enhanced with a carbon fibre bodykit that has been developed using the University of Stuttgart’s wind tunnel. Modifications to the front of the 458 Italia include a new front spoiler that is fitted to the production bumper, as well as flaps to the right and left of the central air inlet to help reduce lift on the front axle thereby benefiting stability at high speeds. The sideskirts are designed to optimise airflow between the front and rear wheel wells. At the rear, the Novitec 458 Italia is equipped with a spoiler, a carbon fibre diffuser, ventilation louvers and the fog lamp surround. The roof panel of the car and the engine hood are also made from carbon.

The wheels are three-piece Novitec Rosso NF3 units, sized 255/30/ ZR21 in front and 335/25 ZR22 at the rear and are fitted with Pirelli PZero high-performance rubber. The sport springs lower the ride height of the Ferrari by some 35 mm. A hydraulic front lift system can raise the front of the car at the push of a button by up to 40 mm, eliminating problems posed by speed bumps or parking garage ramps. At a second push of the button, or automatically upon reaching a speed of 80 km/h, the front reverts to its original position.

Inside, the racey theme of the body kit is continued in the interior with a center console, scuff plates and longer shift paddles on the steering wheel, all made from carbon fibre.
