Tiny terror with smart BRABUS conversion in SA

Matt grey rear diffuser inserts with chrome- look tailpipe trims, matt painted BRABUS Monoblock light-alloy wheels and a Race Start function are things we would have never associated with any previous standard smart car. Until we heard the words ‘smart BRABUS.’

smart BRABUS is the joint venture to bring the new smart BRABUS models to South Africa. These unique and feisty models boast more power than ever before with all the bells and whistles necessary to make them among the sportiest options in the segment.

With 80kW at 5750 r/min the smart BRABUS fortwo sprints from 0-100km/h in 9.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 165 km/h, whilst the smart BRABUS forfour takes a full second longer to reach the 100km/h mark, but is capable of a top speed of 180km/h. The Race Start function automatically sets the optimal rpm and clutch slip for maximum acceleration from stand still.

The performance is due to a number of modifications. Alongside the more powerful 898cc, 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, the fuel pressure has been raised as well as optimised air supply to the engine. A twinamic 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and shorter legged ratios yield up to 40 percent faster response time. Driver and vehicle communication has been improved thanks to the sports-tuned Direct-Steer system which enables drivers to have optimal control over the vehicle. And to wrap it all up – an optimised BRABUS sport exhaust system.

The new premium equipment line, BRABUS Xclusive takes it one up in the sporty segment with special features such as BRABUS floor mats, Xclusive badges in mirror triangle and B-pillar, BRABUS sports seats and BRABUS dashboard in leather look.

The new 2016 smart BRABUS models come with a 3-year/60 000km service plan and will be in the Mercedes-Benz showrooms from December 2016.
