Small price buys big attitude with Tunland Granite
With an assortment of new bakkies filling up SA showrooms and notching up record sales, Foton is vying for your attention with the Tunland Granite – a special edition model with pumped up attitude.
Tunland Granite comes fitted with a number of visual accessories designed to appeal to the business and lifestyle user. Foton has splashed on the dark trim with the Granite version; black alloys in 16-inch size wear Cooper all-terrain tyres, a black nudge bar and roll over-bar compliments Tunland’s strong 2.8-litre Cummins diesel engine.
Inside ‘Granite’ is stitched into the headrests with Granite signage on the tailgate and door sills. Leather seats and Bluetooth are standard. Side steps and a tonneau cover have been carried over from the Luxury model.
Priced at R329 000, compared to the normal retail of R319 995, Tunland Granite 4×2 is the smarter looking bakkie.
“We believe that Granite is an excellent name for this special edition as we believe this bakkie measures up to the tough, rugged and alluring nature of this very hard rock,” explained Mike Scarth, General Manager Foton SA, who is responsible for marketing Foton light commercials in South Africa.
The Cummins ISF engine with 120kW and 360Nm isn’t the smoothest in class or the most powerful (the Hilux 2.8 GD-6 makes 130kW and 420Nm) but unlike many of its competitors the engine will run hassle-free on 500ppm diesel. Service intervals are set at every 10 000km. Competing in the one-ton pickup the Granite’s towing capacity is 2.5 tons while less taxing workloads can see fuel efficiency of 8.3 litres/100km. Emissions of 219g/km are respectable.
Available in either white or silver, Foton Tunland Granite comes with a 5-year/150 000km warranty and a three-year corrosion warranty and roadside assistance. The 4×2 double cabs also have the benefit of a 2-year/40 000km service plan included in the retail price.
