Lamborghini Huracan Performante is on its way to SA.
No doubt you’ve heard of the new Lamborghini Huracan Performante, but just in case you haven’t, we’re talking about the new king of the Nurburgring. The Performante took to the track just a few weeks ago and lapped the infamous Nordschleife in a record breaking 6 minutes and 52 seconds, making it the fastest production car lap of all time. What did it beat you ask? Well, it went over 7 seconds faster than the Aventador Superveloce, and a full 5 seconds faster than the Porsche 918. So yes, we’re talking hyper-car quick.
The Lamborghini Huracan Performante was officially revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show and features a number of practical revisions. The improved 5.2L V10 now produces 470 kW at 8000 RPM and 600 Nm of torque. 0-100km/h is quoted at 2.9 (you can expect it to be less in reality) and top speed remains the same at about 325km/h.
Most of the car’s performance, however, comes from other areas. The hybrid aluminium/ forged carbon chassis provides a weight saving of 40 kg resulting in a net dry weight of 1382 kg. Vertical down-force is said to be up by a mammoth 750% over the standard Huracan. Adjustments have been made to the all-wheel-drive system and the suspension stiffened to optimize track performance. The development of advanced active aerodynamics allows the Huracan Performante to lower drag and increase down-force when needed more efficiently and effectively than ever before.
The local reveal of the Performante will take place at the launch of the two new Lamborghini dealerships in Cape Town and Durban. Pricing starts at R5 835 500 and you can probably expect to receive the standard 3 year service plan that comes with the current Huracan and Aventador models, however there has been no official word from Lamborghini.
