World Rally X is officially coming to South Africa

Local talent to represent SA in World Rally X in season finale

It was confirmed yesterday by three time World Champion, Petter Solberg, and World Rally X Managing Director, Paul Bellamy that the FIA World Rally X is indeed coming to South Africa. A five year deal has been signed between the organisation and Cape Town’s Killarney Raceway to host the popular event and will see crowds of 30 000 visit the facility over one weekend of racing.
Spectators can expect action throughout the weekend as the format of the competition flows via a heat system with the World Championship season finals taking place on the Sunday afternoon on African soil.

The two top classes will be represented including the 230kW RX2 and 450kW Supercars which are said to accelerate faster than a Formula 1 car!

Top drivers such as Solberg, Ekstrom, Loeb and Block will all be vying for a position in the season finale which promises to be a hard fought and close battle.

Local fans will have something, or someone to cheer for as Cape Town local, Jon Williams has been confirmed to be representing South Africa. After a test session at the new Killarney Rally X circuit, Williams kept pace with the international drivers and earned his seat on the grid of the 2017 World Rally X finals. Williams will be heading to Europe this season to try to get acquainted with the 450kW monsters.
