Audi Q4 Crossover confirmed for 2019

Audi to join Crossover fray with coupe-style Q4

Audi are set to produce a coupe-style Audi Q4 crossover within the next two years. The announcement was made by the German brand’s Chairman, Rupert Stadler, as part of Audi’s ambitious plans for the coming years.

That’s right- yet  another crossover is making its way to our roads. ”We offered a preview of this type of vehicle with the Audi TT off-road concept three years ago”  Said Stadler, referring to the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.  Like all crossovers the goal is to provide the capabilities and utility of an SUV while retaining the sporty appeal of a coupe. No official word on the powertrain has been given, but rumours suggest the Q4 will use the same 2.0L turbo four cylinder found in the Q3- that means a 150 kW and 280 Nm of torque. The Q3’s 6 speed automatic transmission will likely be used as will the Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Audi Q4 supports the release of the Q8 as part of Audi’s plans to ”significantly rejuvenate” its lineup and  further tap in to the ever expanding SUV market. Stadler went on to state that every Audi model will feature at least one 48 volt mild-hybrid version by 2025. Three new battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) are also on the way in the next 3 years, starting next year with the production of a pure-electric SUV based on the e-tron Quattro concept revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. An urban-focused model is next on the list while the third model will make its way to production in in 2020.

As of yet no pictures of the Audi Q4 exist other than those of the TT off-road concept (See Gallery) but Q4 is expected to get to showroom floors by 2019.
