BMW Adds Black fire to its M Division

But no extra power

I’m a pretty tall guy and one thing that tall guys all around the world can agree on is the fact that we love big vehicles, from pick-up’s to SUV’s. So, if you’re also into the thrill of big vehicles then you’ll be glad to know that BMW is making SUV’s great again by launching special editions of their flagship SUV’s; the X5M and the X6M. Meet the Black Fire editions

You won’t find any power upgrades or torque increases here; in fact they’re mechanically identical to their regular siblings. However, their unique styling elements are what make them worthy of the exclusive ‘Black Fire’ name.

Powered by fire breathing 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8’s, the super-SUV’s will sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4.2-seconds thanks to the 422kW that are fed to all-four wheels through a clever 8-speed automatic gearbox. To put that into perspective for you, the Pagani Zonda C12 does 0-100km/h in 4.2-seconds as well…

The exterior of the X5M and X6M Black Fire are finished in a stealthy Sapphire Black Metallic paint. The 21” alloy wheels and signature kidney-grille get the full blackout treatment and the mirror caps are replaced with lightweight carbon fibre.

The interior is plastered in gorgeous Mugello red and Black Merino leather upholstery, complemented by an anthracite grey headliner. They also come with electrically-adjustable front M-sport seats with integrated headrests along with glossy black trim elements scattered all around the interior.

The majority of the dash is finished in piano black, with the exclusive ‘Black Fire’ logo on the passenger side, similar to the Pure Metal edition M5.

An ‘M’ leather steering wheel will now come standard, although buyers have the option to upgrade this to the M-Performance Alcantara steering wheel at no extra charge.

We expect the Black Fire editions to go on sale as early as September 2017.
