2018 BMW X3 Revealed
The Germans have once again declared war on each other. This time Bavaria has revealed the brand new BMW X3, due to be launched in 2018 and squaring up to take on the Porsche Macan GTS and Mercedes Benz AMG GLC43.
The new X3 will have a choice of two engine variants. A 185kW 2.0 TwinPower turbocharged four-cylinder, or a 3.0, 25okW straight six M40i engine. The performance flagship claims 0-100 in around 4.6 seconds, thanks to the new launch control system.
Power will be transmitted through 8 speed gearboxes on both variants.
Styling is very similar to the older model with this being an evolution more than a revolution of the older unit. The panels are all completely new and redesigned but at a glance, new bumpers vents and ducts distinguish this from the older version. BMW have also opted to add much more chrome detailing for 2018.
The chassis is all new with new X3 boasting 50-50 weight distribution.
Inside BMW has added the latest in technology available from the rest of the stable along with some brand new tech tit-bits. These include a bigger heads up display, a 10.25 inch touchscreen and gesture-control. The interior is typically BMW with hints of BMW 5-series throughout. The BMW X3 is the companies first SUV to offer a factory fitted tow-hitch. BMW felt it important enough to mention, so we thought we’d do the same.
Expect the latest safety equipment too with blind spot monitoring, traffic-jam assist and BMW’s ParkNow service, which uses data to map likely parking spots. What next I tell you!
The BMW X3 Electric is also rumored to be making its appearance within the next 24 months with more groundbreaking tech and forging forward away from gasoline power, but as is the new X3 is likely to have tongues wagging and the other German manufacturers sitting up.
