Posted on 21 July 2010 by Scott Hayes

The German tuners from Hamann have released images of their 2011 BMW 5 Series styling package, which includes modifications for both the exterior and the interior of the new generation 5.

The Hamann 2011 BMW 5 Series aerodynamics bodykit includes a new front bumper with large air intakes and LED daytime running lights, new side skirts, a new rear bumper, a boot lid spoiler and a rear roof spoiler. Hamann have also given the 5 a new exhaust system with double twin-tailpipes and new black rims.

For the interior, the Hamann 5 Series offers a custom steering wheel, aluminum pedals and various carbon fiber trim styling elements.

For now the tuning company hasn’t said whether they’ve fettled under the bonnet or not, but we’re sure it’s just a matter of time.

AC Schnitzer has taken the BMW X6 M to another level with their latest performance and styling package.

While the performance upgrades and final figures are being finalised – which include a sports exhaust, removal of the electronic speed limiter and new odometer marked to 360 km/h – the Aachen-based tuning firm has released images and details of their latest styling package for the X6 M.

The BMW tuning specialist has given the X6 M a styling make-over, consisting of a new front spoiler; rear roof spoiler; rear wing; rear diffuser as well as adding various design elements to the front skirt as well as the addition of a chromed front grille. As if the BMW X6 M wasn’t menacing enough, carbon bonnet vents are also an option, but the pièce de résistance is the plexiglas panoramic window, through which the engine is permanently visible.

Measuring 1.98 metres wide as standard, AC Schnitzer has added wheel arch extensions to give the SAV an extra 40 mm of width on each side. This allows the X6 M to wear a number of AC Schnitzer forged alloy wheels, ranging in size from 20- to 23-inches. X6 M Schnitzer owners can choose to put the power on the road through a choice of 275, 315, 295 or massive 335 section tyres.

The already sporty interior of the BMW X6 M has been further refined. AC Schnitzer have added a speedo and rev counter with AC Schnitzer logo, white dials, red pointers and red lighting. The carbon interior trim and the AC Schnitzer steering wheel spokes feature a new “Black Exclusiv” design, while the AC Schnitzer aluminium cover for the i-Drive system controller, aluminium footrest and pedal set, as well as a set of velour foot mats, round off the interior package.

Hamann Motorsport has introduced a tuning and accesories package for the the current BMW Z4 Roadster.

The Hamann aerodynamics kit is characterised by a new front spoiler with integrated LED daytime running lights, a set of larger side skirts, the addition of a rear spoiler and a new rear bumper housing four tailpipes responsible for the throaty sound of the Hamann sports exhaust system. The car rides on a set of polished, three-piece, 20-inch light alloy wheels, which Hamann call ‘Edition Race Matt Black’. Tyres are 235/30 ZR20 at front and 295/25 ZR20 at the rear. Sports suspension lowers the car by 30 mm to give it an agressive stance and improve handling.

The tuning house has also fettled under the bonnet of the Z4 sDrive35i and amongst other things has removed the 250 km/h limitation. An optimised engine management system has resulted in performance figures of 265 kW at 5 230 r/min (standard is 225 kW at 2 500 r/min). Maximum torque has also been increased to an impressive 540 N.m, which is available between 1 300 – 5 000 r/min (standard is 400 N.m between the same engine speeds). Hamann claim top speed has been increased to 285 km/h.

For the interior, Hamann has created an exclusive feel to their Z4 roadster with the addition an aluminum gear knob and the set of foot mats with the silver stitched Hamann logo. If that’s not enough, buyers can also specify their own custom interior leather trim.

An Extra 117 kW For The BMW X5 M And X6 M

Posted on 19 March 2010 by Scott Hayes

Ever heard of Nowack Motors? Neither had we until we stumbled upon news of their BMW tuning efforts at Autoblog.nl. We’re the first to admit that our comprehension of the Dutch language lacks talent, however we’ve done our best to extract some details for you.

The first tuning package created by the company is focussed on BMW’s X5 and X6 M models. Basically Nowack’s N700 package includes several new parts and an ECU upgrade, which increases power output from the standard twin-turbo, 408 kW 4,4-litre V8 to 525 kW and 845 N.m of torque. Top speed is a guaranteed 330 km/h.

To achieve these monumental figures, Nowack Motors reprogrammed the ECU, optimised the air flow with high performance air filters, modified the exhaust system, improved the pistons and camshafts, modified the cylinder heads and increased the turbo pressure.

To add a touch of bling, Nowack offers optional extras such as 22-inch wheels, a full leather interior and the installation of various in-car entertainment systems.

Manhart Racing’s Supercharged BMW M3

Posted on 19 February 2010 by Scott Hayes

Manhart has created a three-stage power upgrade for the E92 BMW M3. The first stage is a small compressor using a supercharging pressure of 0.35 bar, producing up to 384 kW. With stage-II the supercharging pressure is increased to 0.50 bar that achieves a peak power output of 436 kW.

www.SACarFan.co.za - Manhart Supercharged BMW M3

As if these figures weren’t impressive or scary enough, the stage-III package puts the Manhart Supercharged M3 in the supercar league in terms of power output. A larger compressor from ASA, with a charge pressure of 0.67 bar, is combined with a custom exhaust system that houses two 200 cell race-spec catalytic converters. The stage-III package manages to extract a Koenigsegg CC8S rivalling 488 kW, capable of catapulting the car from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of just over 350km/h.

Manhart have used Bilstein PSS10 threaded suspension and 20-inch black BBS wheels to keep the car on the straight and narrow. Continental tyres in sizes 245/30 ZR20 at the front and 295/25 ZR20 at the rear are fitted and should be capable of transferring the hotted up M3′s power to the road – provided some measure of diplomacy is excercised with the throttle. Stopping power is provided by 365 mm brake discs at the front, with floating callipers from the BMW M5 E60, while the rear brake components remain in standard form.

Manhart’s custom exhaust system features a constant diameter of 70 mm and exits with four 82 mm tail pipes. The stainless steel version produces around 13 kW, with the 50% lighter than standard titanium version responsible for releasing 18 kW more power from the 4,0-litre V8.
