We’re pleased to see the Renault Fluence has been given a substantially revised face for 2013. The car’s current front-end styling leaves it looking rather ‘anonymous’, but the latest changes bring it up-to-date with the rest of Renault’s range and add some much need definition.
The styling changes are reserved for the front of the Fluence and include a new, wider grille, a vertically-set logo at the centre of a broad black horizontal strip and chrome beading. A set of LED daytime running lights and chrome/gloss black inserts has also been added. The interior has been given a new set of digital instrument gauges, as well as improved upholsteries for comfort.
Engine options include a 85 kW 1.6-litre petrol engine, mated to a X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission, which Renault claim requires 6.4 L/100km. There is also an 82 kW 4-cylinder diesel engine that us matched with the company’s new EDC ‘Efficient Dual Clutch’ transmission, or a 96 kW version with fuel consumption listed at 4.6 L/100km.
Three engine choices are available. A new 1.6-litre petrol engine produces 85 kW and requires 6.4 L/100km, when paired with a new-generation X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission. The dCi 110 diesel engine offers 80 kW and a new dCi 130 diesel engine offers 95 kW and 4.6 L/100km. Both diesel models are paired with Renault’s new EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) transmission.
The Renault Fluence is built in the Oyak-Renault factory in Bursa, Turkey and will be rolled out to 56 countries in 2013.
