What’s in a Name?
The Indian company isn’t averse to a little superstition. Their vehicle names all end in “O” based on the success of their first two vehicles, Scorpio and Bolero. Interestingly, the real name of Mahindra is actually Mahindra & Mahindra, named after Mahindra brothers. So technically its also called M&M.
Mahindra has something in common with Lamborghini?
Just like Lamborghini, Mahindra sold tractors to get where they are today. They’ve been in the tractor business since the 60’s and by 2012 sold 2.1 million tractors, making them, by volume, the worlds top tractor manufacturer.
Fuelling the Fire
Mahindra developed their own diesel engine derivative to overcome the fuel crisis of 1975 and supplied diesel engines to Peugeot too. Mahindra has partnered with many global manufacturers over the years, including Ford and Renault.
