German exhaust specialist Eisenmann has released information that they will officially release a sport exhaust system for BMW 1 Series M Coupé at the 64th IAA (International Motor Show) in Frankfurt, Germany, from September 15th to 25th, 2011
According to Eisenmann, their exhaust releases an extra 7 kW over the standard unit. The entire exhaust system, consisting of a middle silencer and rear muffler, is made of high-quality stainless steel. Although the exhaust system will be shown officially at the 2011 IAA, the complete system is available to 1 M Coupé owners immediately. The middle silencer will set owners back €535.50, while the rear muffler with four tailpipes in a diameter of 83 millimetres will require you to cough up €1309.
Having driven the 1 M Coupé at the launch in South Africa earlier this week, we’d say the cost and power gain are immaterial in relation to the crisp rasp of the straight-six engine that the new exhaust will spit out. If you’re lucky enough to own one of the 71 BMW 1 M Coupés coming to South Africa, then we recommend you get in touch with the Eisenmann agents and exercise some social responsibility.
Update: South African Eisenmann agents, Race Sound, say: “The price in RSA would be around R22 000 for just rear and another R7 000 for the central pipe or exhaust.”
