The entire XF range has been updated for 2012, as seen with last week’s introduction of the XF 2.2 Diesel, and the range-topping XFR is no different.
Briefly, advances have been made across the entire XF range in terms of refinement, with new engine mounts and extra sound deadening material featuring on the cars, as well as redesigned wing mirrors to reduce wind noise. Advances in lighting technology have also meant the 2012 Jaguar XF model range has adopted the bold Jaguar design language introduced on the flagship XJ saloon.
On top of the revisions to the XF for 2012, the XFR receives its own unique and assertive design to underline its performance potential. A ‘cleaner’ look bodykit has been added for 2012, along with redesigned 20-inch alloy wheels and a subtle rear diffuser.
Under the bonnet lies a 5.0-litre supercharged V8, unchanged from the 2010 model, that produces 375 kW and 620 Nm from 2 500 r/min. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and together the mechanicals contribute to the car’s 4.7 second zero to 100 km/h sprint time and electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
The comprehensively spec’d 2012 Jaguar XFR is now available in South Africa for R995 000.
