Jaguar has brought their fastest and most powerful production sports ever built – the new Jaguar XKR-S – to the Joburg Motor Show.
Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in February, we already know all there is to know about the meanest Jag of all (watch a video review here), but in case you’ve missed it, here’s a refresher.
The 2012 Jaguar XKR-S is powered by an upgraded supercharged V8 engine developing 405 kW and 680 Nm of torque. The big cat is capable of sprinting from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and 100 – 180 km/h in 7.6 seconds, with a top speed of 300 km/h.
Jaguar say the new XKR-S is not merely the quickest Jaguar ever, but also the most agile, responsive and driver-focused, thanks to a revised suspension and a reprogrammed Adaptive Dynamics system.
“The Jaguar XKR-S is a bold and exciting new model for Jaguar,” said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new Global Brand Director.
“We expect to attract both loyal and new Jaguar driving enthusiasts who still want the comfort, opulence and class only a Jaguar can offer, combined with inspirational performance.”
Just 15 Jaguar XKR-S coupés will be coming to SA, with a price tag of R1.7 million.
