The largest Mini of them all, the Countryman crossover, will soon accept a new member into its family as the BMW Group owned British automaker will debut the John Cooper Works (JCW for short) model at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
The most powerful MINI in the range with 155 kW, the MINI Countryman JCW sprints from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.0 seconds and has a top speed of 225 km/h. Available with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox, fuel consumption is rated at 7.2 L/100km and 8.0 L/100km respectively.
The Countryman JCW keeps the All4 AWD system, which sends all the power to the front wheels under normal driving conditions but can, if things start to slip, send up to 50 per cent to the rear wheels. Under the skin the Countryman JCW is fitted with bigger brakes, 10 mm lower suspension, electric steering and a Dynamic Traction Control mode.
A JCW body kit has been bolted on to the Countryman and there’s a set of 18-inch twin-spoke alloys. Inside, the Countryman JCW features sports seats with red contrast stitching, piano black trim, optional Chilli Red trim elements and trim stripes round the door panels and centre console. There is also a sports steering wheel a ‘Sport’ button that tweaks the engine response, sound, and adjusts the power assistance provided by the steering.
