The most powerful Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the G63 AMG, will be with us in South Africa in the coming weeks, but over in Germany, Mercedes tuning specialists Brabus, have already been hard at work.
Distinguishing the Brabus G63 AMG from its ‘lesser’ G-Class AMG stablemates, are an enormous set of 23-inch, twin-spoke, alloy wheels, behind which sit yellow coloured brake calipers. Other highlights include the ride control comfort suspension and valve-controlled exhaust system.
As expected, the main changes have taken place beneath the bonnet. In standard form the G63 AMG produces an already bonkers 400 kW and 760 Nm of torque. Brabus, however, have bolted an additional intercooler into the engine bay and optimised the car’s ECU software accordingly. As a result, power has increased to 456 kW and torque to 800 Nm! Brabus has not released any performance figures or pricing, but we assume these figures will be as heady as the engine’s.
