Geely South Africa has entered into a strategic partnership with the Chongqing Sokon Motor Group in China to import and distribute a range of light commercial vehicles under the DFSK brand name. The new vehicles are available through any of Geely’s 45 dealerships nationwide.
DSFK light commercial vehicles have been designed to be affordable and accessible to individuals and small business owners. The DSFK range includes five models, which Geely have chosen to offer only in white.
The entry-level Mini Truck Single Cab offers buyers a cost-effective half-ton load carrier. Powered by a 1 012 cc, four-cylinder, fuel-injected petrol engine, the 1.0-litre model offers 35 kW and 76 Nm of torque and, thanks to its low capacity, should have frugal fuel consumption. The 1.3-litre version of the Mini Truck Single Cab produces 58 kW and 103 Nm of torque available from 2 800 r/min. The added torque will no doubt be welcomed when carting heavier loads. The single-cab Mini Truck has a load box measuring 2 300 mm in length, 1 500 mm in width and a depth of 335 mm.
The Mini Truck is also available in double-cab guise. Only available with the 1.3-litre petrol engine, the Mini Truck Double-Cab seats a total of four passengers, with a slight smaller load box as a compromise – 1 390 mm long, 1 400 mm wide and 335 mm deep. Both Mini Truck variants come standard with drop-sides for the load area, as well as protective bars across the rear window.
The DFSK Panel Van seats two and has an enclosed cargo area measuring 2 000 mm long, 1 320 mm wide and 1 320 tall. The rear hatch opens wide to allow large items to be loaded, which is in addition to a single sliding door located on the left-hand side of the vehicle.
People carrying capability is the main purpose of the DFSK Mini Bus, which offers seating for up to six adults, each with an individual three-point seat belt. Like the Panel Van, the Mini Bus is powered by the same 1.3 litre, four-cylinder engine.
In all DFSK models, the engine drives the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. All models come with discs for the front wheels and drum brakes for the rear. Suspension consists of McPherson Struts with coil springs and dampers in the front, while independent plate springs with dampers take care of the rear.
