Lamborghini have marked their 20th Anniversary in Hong Kong with a special edition Gallardo LP550-2. The anniversary pays tribute to Kingsway Cars Ltd., the first official Lamborghini dealer established in 1992 in Hong Kong. Why the occasion is so auspicious that it deserves its own car, we’re not entirely sure, but we think the car is most certainly worthy of celebration.
The ‘-2’ at the end of the Gallardo’s nomenclature signifies it to be two-wheel drive and therefore the most mental car since the Balboni, Tricolore, the Malaysia-only MLE, the Blancpain, the Bicolore, the Performante and yes, well… Lamborghini have been doing a lot of limited edition cars lately. Only eight units of the HK 20th Edition will be produced and all of them in Hong Kong of course.
The Gallardo LP550-2 is distinguished by a solid white exterior finish with matt gold strips running from its bonnet to the roof and down over the engine cover. In contrast, the front spoiler, rear diffuser, rear wing and side skirts are all finished in matt black, while special HK20 graphics emblazon the side sills, front spoiler, rear bumper, centre console and headrests. Completing the look are red steering wheel paddle shifters and matt gold ‘Cordelia’ wheels.
As you’d find in the standard Gallardo LP550-2, the 5.2-litre V10 engine hasn’t been changed and still produces 405 kW, catapults the Lambo from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and affords a top speed of 320 km/h. The price is $464 000 if you speak American.
We love all these limited edition Gallardo’s because limited editions often signify the coming to an end of a production run. Isn’t it about time to bring on the Gallardo replacement please Lamborghini?
